I was once a national table tennis player with a disability, representing Taiwan in major international competitions. Now that I have hung up my sportswear, I am just like everyone else, working a nine-to-five job every day, returning to my warm home, and having dinner and watching TV with my beloved family. I truly feel very blessed! But behind this happiness, the thing that bothers me the most is the process of bathing. While bathing might be an enjoyable and relaxing activity in the eyes of others, for us people with disabilities, it is a major undertaking.
My wife also has a disability and is even more mobility-impaired than I am. To make bathing more convenient for us, I tried looking for a suitable shower chair on various websites and in stores, hoping to find one that was convenient in size and function. However, the market is flooded with various shower chairs, and the prices vary greatly. Some are too light and unstable, while others might tip over, rust, or have broken legs. This is very troubling and feels very dangerous for us in our sixties!
Not giving up hope, I also tried searching online for carpentry or iron factories to see if they could help produce such a product, but they all declined my order due to the small quantity and the customized nature of the request. The day the custom-made shower chair was delivered to our home, our whole family was very excited and expectant, especially my wife. We both hoped that this product would not only be durable but also meet the needs of both my wife and me, so we could share it.
Upon arrival, we were all super satisfied. The specifications, size, and dimensions were spot on, and all the edge and corner details were meticulously crafted. The quality was better than I expected—simple and convenient—this is the shower chair we wanted!
That evening, we tested its practicality, and it was truly perfect. It felt very solid and stable. Pushing the wheelchair to the side, shifting onto the chair, and then lowering the armrests—all the movements were so ordinary, so simple, yet they brought us immense peace of mind and convenience. We no longer have to worry about falling while bathing, and wiping ourselves down is also very easy. I truly feel that such a product should be known to more people who need it.

During the interaction and inquiries with the sales representative, I learned a lot about manufacturing techniques, which I can later apply to setting procurement specifications at work. This product has made my life more convenient and has also been helpful in my work—killing two birds with one stone!
